Sandra Gallegos was born and raised in Lima, Peru where she studied business administration at university and got in touch with yoga over 10 years ago. She then moved to Australia to study International Tourism on the Gold Coast and stayed for approximately 5 years. While in Australia, she practiced Bikram yoga before moving to France and being introduced to Ashtanga yoga really connected her to do that which she was seeking through this discipline.
When Sandra moved back to Lima she continued with her practice of Ashtanga and in 2012 became a certified yoga teacher with over 200 hours of training and registered by the Yoga Alliance with a focus on Ashtanga yoga. She continues to take courses with different teachers to deepen her knowledge of this profound practice discipline and philosophy and teaches a variety of styles in her classes.
In 2015, she travelled to Mysore, India to study with her guru Sharath Jois, the grandson of the founder of the Ashtanga style. Sandra also took an Ayurveda course with Dr. Chitra Lekha at the Mysore Ayurveda Retreat and Training Centre as well as studying yoga sutras and mantra chanting.
Her studies also include a “Yoga for Kids” teacher training course which was inspired by her 4 year-old son is a certified children’s yoga instructor. Sandra is also a Reiki master and a lover of nature and the ocean and spends her free time traveling and is an avid surfer. Sandra embraces yoga as a life philosophy and the practice helps to open our consciousness and encourage us to live in the present moment and be aware of our emotions to be happier and more free in our daily lives.
