Sherri Sim was born in Toronto, Canada and lived there most of her life until 2011, when she decided to travel and experience Peru. One year later, she had made it her home and has been living in the Sacred Valley ever since. Sherri studied 200 hours of training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga through Chaitanya Das of Yoga Inbound, in Cusco Peru in 2013, and is certified through Yoga Alliance. She offers private classes in both English and Spanish in Urubamba, Peru.
Her classes encourage a yoga practice based on self-care, connection to spiritual themes and guiding her students through the proper construction and alignment of the postures to create refined and balanced postures within each students ability and level.
Preferring a gentler, more meditative and accepting yoga practice, Sherri loves facilitating the supportive and compassionate style of Yin Yoga. Postures are held for longer periods of time while fully physically supported and focusing on proper, fluid breathing allowing participants to surrender to the postures for emotional and physical release. For her personal practice, she enjoys slow, powerful moves and balancing postures.
Sherri is also a Reiki Master of Usui Lineage, registered through the International Centre of Reiki Training and is a Registered Reflexology Therapist, receiving her certification through the Reflexology Association of Canada.
Yoga and Tai Chi complement her energetic and physical healing modalities and her gentle approach to wellness and acceptance of one’s self and allowing her to joyously integrate this work with others and to support others in their personal journeys.
The most profound effect yoga has had in her life is learning the philosophy of yoga and incorporating it into her life and in her daily routine of living.
